Tuesday Game Day; Baseball, Softball, Golf and Tennis

There is baseball, softball, golf and tennis on this Tuesday (April 2) game day.

The Wildcats’ baseball team hopes to improve their place in the district standings as they play host to the Lindale Eagles Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Wildcat Park. The Wildcats are 2-5 in district play and they are in fifth place, one spot out of the playoffs. Lindale is 4-3 in district play. Last week the Wildcats lost a pair of games to Royse City. The Bulldogs swept all three of the district games they played against the Wildcats. The Wildcats will play Lindale home and away this week. Lindale won the first game against the Wildcats, 3-2 at home back on March 12. Tuesday night there will be a JV contest at 4 p./m. The varsity game will follow at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are 10-7 for the season.

The Lady Cats’ softball team is also at home on this game day Tuesday as Texas High is coming to town. The Lady Cats are 3-1 in district play after their 3-1 loss at Mount Pleasant last Friday. The Lady Tigers are 2-2 in district play. There will be a JV contest at Lady Cat Park at 5 p.m. A varsity game will follow at 6:30 p.m. The Lady Cats season record is 17-5. This game will mark the end of the first half of district play. KSST Radio will have Lady Cats and Texas High softball Tuesday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. The broadcast will also have live video streaming. The game will also be videotaped for replay later on Channel 18 on Suddenlink Cable. The game will also be posted to YouTube.

There is also district golf and tennis on this Tuesday game day. Tuesday is day two of the District 15-5A Golf Tournament at Paris Country Club. Lady Cats Golf Coach Whitney Spigener said sophomore Mariam Tran finished in second place in the medalist race with an 82 after Monday’s day one of the tournament. Coach Spigener said Tran trailed Graci Henard of Texas High by only one shot after nine holes but she said Henard had a strong back nine to build her lead to 8 strokes going into play Tuesday. Coach Spigener also said Lady Cat Addison White shot a 112 and Lady Cat Charleigh Potts shot a 116. Chris Owens’ Wildcats’ golf team is also playing round two of the district golf tournament at Paris Country Club on this game day Tuesday.

Play also began Tuesday in the two-day District 15-5A Tennis Tournament at the Wildcat Tennis Complex in Sulphur Springs. Wildcats Tennis Coach Tony Martinez was very pleased with Wildcats’ match ups for the district tournament made at a recent seeding meeting. The District Tennis Tournament continues on Wednesday.
