Funeral services for L.J. Sells, age 84, of Yantis, have been scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Tapp Funeral Home with Billy Cissell officiating and Alvie Faulkenbery, Micah Morphew, Dr. David Morphew, Ross Stewart, Tristen Rouse, Noah Sells, and Dillon Henegar serving as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Seymore Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Tapp Funeral Home Chapel.
L.J. was born on February 6, 1934, in Yantis, the son of Clyde David Sells Sr. and Minnie Mae Wyatt Sells. Mr. Sells was married to Mary Evelyne Coke for over 50 years when she preceded him in death on December 21, 2003. He worked as a home builder and built numerous houses throughout his lifetime. L.J. also proudly served in the U.S. National Guard. L.J. passed away Christmas morning peacefully in his sleep at his home on December 25, 2018.
Survivors include: Daughters: Cathy Lynn Morphew and husband Mark, Julie Anna Stewart and husband David, Danna “Susie” Marie Rouse and husband Mike; son: “Jay” L.J. Sells Jr. and wife, Angela; grandchildren: Micah Allen Morphew and wife Julie, Dr. David Ryan Morphew and wife Renae, Alvie Franklin Faulkenbery IV and wife Ana, Nathaniel Ross Stewart, Tristen Lane Rouse, Mikayla Brooke Rouse, Noah Wesley Sells, Wyatt Christian Sells, Dillon Wayne Henegar, and Jordyn Lynn Bargides; great granddaughter Aria Lee Faulkenbery; brother: Earnest Eugene “Willie” Sells and numerous nephews and nieces that he loved like his own.
Mr. Sells was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Mary Sells; sister: Essie Laverne Jenkins; brothers: James Troy Sells, Robert Benjamin Sells, Edward Dwayne Sells and Clyde David Sells Jr.; grandson; Sgt. Tanner Stone Higgins
