A funeral service for Neil Alex Harris, age 92, of Point, will be held at 2:00 P. M. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Lone Star Cemetery at Point. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P. M., Wednesday evening November 14, 2018 at the funeral home chapel. Bro. Joe Ramsey will officiate. Mr. Harris passed away unexpectedly, yet very peacefully in his sleep at his home Sunday morning.
Mr. Harris was born February 24, 1926, in Point, to the parentage of Marshall Ernest and Lucy May Smith Harris, Later he married Mary Lou Turner in Emory, on October 30, 1948.He was very proud of the many accomplishments he achieved during his life. Those included being a Master Mason; Shriner; Scottish Right; Knights Templar; and Navy Navigator on a torpedo bomber assigned to the USS Saratoga.Mr. Harris was a member of the Point United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: Wife, Mary Lou Harris of Point ; daughter, Jeanie Lou Burgin of Dallas; sons, Robert Neil Harris (Bobbie) of Emory; and Stephen Lee Harris (Angie) of Plano; grandchildren, Jennipher Burgin; Paige Acevedo; Natalie Abadie; Neil Harris; Lindsey Gaddis and Ginger Harris; great-grandchildren, Evan, Lacy, Vivian, Emma, Juliet. Numerous other loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by: Parents; Marshall Harris; Vashti Wiggs; Bill Edd Harris; Anna Sonnier; Melbournne Harris; James Harris; Rose Nagel; Bobbie Barger and Virginia Dooley.
