Lady Lions Lose Close One to North Hopkins

The Saltillo Lady Lions’ softball team lost a close one Tuesday (April 10), 4-2 to North Hopkins.

The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Lions cut the deficit to 2-1 with a run in the top of the third inning. North Hopkins got two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up, 4-1. Saltillo added a run in the top of the seventh but that’s all they could get in the 4-2 loss.

Lady Lions pitcher Chandler Bain struck out three. For the Lady Lions, Madison Simmons was 2 for 4 with two singles. Bain was 2 for 4 with a single and a double. Paisley Kastner was 2 for 3 with two singles. Jordan Sustaire, Christi Gurley and Anna Reeder were all 1 for 3 with a single. The Lady Lions play next at Detroit at 4:30 p.m. Friday (April 13).
