NETLA, a Hopkins County Youth SUPER-Event

Make plans to visit the youth exhibitors at this year’s Junior Market Livestock Show when, along with their animal projects, they will be competing inside the Civic Center arena in Sulphur Springs in the NETLA event.

4-H and FFA youth showing lambs and goats will have their contests on Thursday February 23 starting at 4pm.  There are 100 lamb and goat entries this year. Youth who are showing the other 218 livestock entries, from poultry to swine to steers and heifers, will be judged on Friday February 24.

Admission is free to spectators! Selections of livestock for Saturday’s Sale of Champions are chosen from high-scoring stock in Thursday and Friday contests. Admission to the Sale of Champions is also free to spectators, with buyers and added-money participants also welcome. A Stew lunch prepared by the Professional Ag Workers will be available starting at noon, with the Sale of Champions getting underway at 1pm on Saturday February 25. This major youth scholarship event has been sponsored by the Northeast Texas Livestock Association since 2002.

You can pick up a free brochure that lists the NETLA mission statement, officers, scholarships and show classes at the Hopkins County Agrilife Extension office on Houston Street in Sulphur Springs.
