The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office hosted a retirement party for Sheriff Butch Adams and Chief Deputy Ricky Morgan in the Hopkins County Jail sally port Wednesday afternoon. Sheriff-Elect Lewis Tatum thanked everyone for coming. Lorie Grinnan, a former Rockwall County Commissioner and current staffer in Congressman John Ratcliffe’s Rockwall Office presented a flag that flew over the nation’s Capitol to the Sheriff’s Department on behalf of Sheriff Adams. The Sheriff’s cousin, Gary Adams, said the Sheriff was a source of pride to the family because he had managed to stay out of jail. He noted since Sheriff Adams would soon retire he suggested they might do some fishing in the future. Sheriff-Elect Tatum and his wife Michelle presented Sheriff Adams and his wife Beth with a large wrapped gift that turned out to be a large quilt that contained pieces of some of Sheriff Adams’ old shirts as well some family photos. Sheriff Adams said he thought his mother might also have been involved in making the quilt. Sheriff Adams thanks everyone present. He said he had worked with great people. Sheriff Adams said he had a great family, both immediate family and his second family, members of the Sheriff’s Office.
