Numerous members of the community will be receiving the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards in 34 different categories at an awards celebration on January 16. The awards celebration will take place at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at 208 Fuller in Sulphur Springs. Dr. Ray Keck III, President and CEO of Texas A&M University-Commerce will serve as master of ceremonies. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Kenneth “Rock” Clinton. According to the Hopkins County African American Leadership Conference, these awards are given to those who demonstrate Dr. King’s legacy of raising public consciousness to social justices, securing progress on civil rights and loving and serving humanity.
