The Lady Cats’ volleyball team won all three matches they played in a Tyler tournament Saturday and claimed the championship in the tournament’s Silver Bracket. The Lady Cats won the Silver Bracket with a 2-0 win over Henderson, 25-9 and 25-21.
Earlier the Lady Cats took 2-1 wins over Bullard, 25-16, 23-25 and 25-10 and over Rusk, 25-12, 17-25 and 25-17. Overall the Lady Cats won four and lost two in the tournament that took place on Thursday and Saturday. Thursday the Lady Cats lost to Longview, defeated Elkhart and lost to Alba-Golden. In between, the Lady Cats won over Mineola, 3-0 at Mineola Friday evening. In Saturday stats, Kaylee Jefferson had 29 kills with Autumn Tanton adding 28 and Mieke VanBenthem 14. Tori Moore had a team high 84 assists and Anden Hammack topped the team with 33 digs. Coach Maness said the Lady Cats had a great day of volleyball. He added if the team would have played like that Thursday, they would have ended up in the tournament’s championship bracket. Coach Maness said he got good effort from every player. He added the team was seeing that when they stay within his new system, they are hard to beat. Coach Maness said the team members were buying into that.
The Lady Cats, now 18-7 for the season, will host Paris Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Wildcats Gym.
