Several people who give generously of their time and efforts will be honored for their service Thursday, June 16th, during the RSVP Spring Awards Banquet. The event begins at 5 p.m. with a theme of “Volunteers Make Beautiful Music” at New Beginnings Fellowship Church.
The meal will be catered by Murray’s BBQ and Musical Entertainment will be by Enola Gay Mathews. Door prizes will be handed out by businesses in Sulphur Springs that are a part of the Hopkins County Marketers Association. At the RSVP Spring Awards Banquet the 2015 “Volunteer of the Year” and “Station of the Year” will be named.
Karon Weatherman said the Retired Senior Volunteer Council members in Hopkins County are hard at work preparing for the big day. They met last month to begin putting together those final touches. Council members include: Kelly Hamill, Mona Giles, Karon Weatherman, CarolAnn Dixon, Tim Gee, Linda Mobley, Charlotte Baxter, Mike Patterson and Clayton McGraw.
RSVP is a program that gives senior citizens the chance to volunteer and make a difference in their communities. Currently, the program has 12 stations in Hopkins County where volunteers lend their service, including Meal-A-Day, Senior Citizens Center, Shawls Of Love, Military Coalition, Sulphur Springs Public Library, Hopkins County Genealogy Library, Hopkins County Historical Museum, Terrific Tuesdays, Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, Lone Star Quilt Guild, Main Street Theatre and A.C.T.S. of Love (Adults Coming Together Serving)
