PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that Austin Bridge & Road Services LP will begin resurfacing Interstate Highway 30 in Franklin County in Northeast Texas on Feb. 25.
TxDOT granted the contractor 223 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project at an estimated cost of more than $16.4 million. The work will be weather-dependent, but should be completed in October 2016.
Contractor crews will plane the surface of the roadway, east- and west-bound, and apply a new hot mix overlay to the pavement. The work will extend from the Hopkins-Franklin County line to the Franklin-Titus County line, officials said.
Motorists are urged to use alternate travel routes whenever possible while this work in underway. Those who must travel this portion of I-30 are advised to slow down, drive attentively and approach work zones with caution. Drivers should also watch for and obey all traffic controls and barricades along this route, and travel through work zones at reduced speed.
This work will require some lane closures during daylight hours, officials said. The contractor will place advance warning signs to alert drivers to changing road conditions and detours. Signs and flaggers will help guide motorists safely through work zones.
