Wildcats, Lady Cats Win Thursday Tourney Games

basketballBoth the Wildcats and Lady Cats won tournament games Thursday. The Wildcats defeated Garrison, 63-38 in their first game in a tournament at Central Heights in Nacogdoches. Coach Clark Cipoletta said the Wildcats got off to a slow start in the game but then had a great second half. The Wildcats were led by Keaston Willis who scored 21 points. Trenton Brock added 9. Zach Haywood and Garrett Jones scored 7 points each and Bubba Hall chipped in 6. The Wildcats improved their record to 3-5. They were scheduled to play Laneville at 10 a.m. Today.

The Lady Cats opened a tournament in Edgewood with a big win over Scurry-Rosser, 54-21. The Lady Cats jumped out to a 17-3 first quarter lead and outscored Scurry-Rosser in every quarter. Kaylee Jefferson led the Lady Cats with 16 points and she also added six rebounds. Lexie Moore scored 9 points and Sadavia Porter added 8. Daieyshia Pruitt led the Lady Cats with 7 rebounds. The Lady Cats are now 9-2. They are scheduled to play host Edgewood beginning at 1 p.m. This afternoon.
