Military graveside services for Claude Wilhite, age 89 of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Restlawn Memorial Park with Bro. Shane Carrington officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Claude passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Dike, TX on September 18, 1925, the son of Ayrie Cecil and Grace Dora (Shelton) Wilhite. He married Mary Jo Gordon on August 5, 1955 in Rockwall. She preceded him in death in 2008. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a retired supervisor of Human Resources for the State of Texas and also a retired State Trooper. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include daughters, Kathy Lewis and husband, Marty of Justin, Barbara Kirby of Alba, Linda Chandler of Austin, Sue Wilhite of Sulphur Springs and Sandy Robison and husband, Jack of Rowlett; son, Ron Wilhite of Alba; sisters, Louise Smith of Birthright, Betty Patterson, Dama Kirkpatrick, Lucille Bills and Wanda Elliott, all of Sulphur Springs; brother, Dennis Wilhite of Garland, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Jo; one grandson, Jay Derek; sister, Alene Wilhite and brother, Terry Don Wilhite.
