Memorial services for Clara Elizabeth Young, age 94, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Cook officiating. A private family interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be the Harvey-Crusaders Sunday School Class and Dr. I. L. Balkcom. There will be no formal visitation.
Mrs. Young passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Young was born on August 23, 1920 in the Reilly Springs Community, the daughter of Freeman and Annabelle Finley Carlisle. She married Johnny A. Young and he preceded her in death after 52 years of marriage. Mrs. Young worked for Sears for many years in personnel management. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and served faithfully in the homebound ministry up until February of this year.
She is survived by her son, Mike Young and wife Sue of El Paso, TX, granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth Wilson and husband Brian of Austin, TX, Rachel Diane Smith and husband Michael of Gig Harbor, WA, sisters, Diane Dixon of Sulphur Springs, TX, Janey Swindell of Longview, TX great-grandchildren, Grant Michael, Dean Henry, Amanda Clair, Madelaine Rhys, Morgan Quinn, Jack Elden, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Col. Gerald Carlisle and Murrell Carlisle, sister, Juanita Hudson.
