“Updated” Tyler Man Arrested for Online Solicitation

STRICKLAND, JOSHUA CAIN

Friday morning Justice of the Peace B.J. Teer set bond for 30-year old Joshua Cain Strickland of Tyler, who was arrested late Wednesday night in Sulphur Springs for setting up a meeting with an underage female for sex and for drug possession. Judge Teer set bond for Strickland at $75,000 for on-line solicitation of a minor and $15,000 for possession of a controlled substance. The man communicated by e-mail and text messages with what he thought was a 15-year old girl. He reportedly set up a meeting at a League Street site and also rented a motel room. The man was arrested by lawmen near the proposed meeting site. A search of the motel room led to discovery of a glass pipe for smoking, some methamphetamine and some condoms, including some vibrating condoms.
