The Chamber of Commerce is happy to have partnered with Community Matters, Inc., and award-winning publisher, on this all-new, redesigned map publication. This map will be a detailed street map of Sulphur springs, Hopkins County and will include insets for Como and Cumby. We will have continual distribution for over 18 months. The map will have larger ad sizes, expanded distribution and an online interactive map! Lone Star Writing Workshop is a free training seminar, taught by publisher Bobbie Shafer and author Cathy Myers. The 3 hour presentation includes a slide program of editing your work, formatting your manuscript, forming characters, plot arcs and promoting your work. Please join us at Sulphur Springs Public Library, Saturday April 9th from 9:30 to 12:30.
Are you preparing to take the Texas Driver’s Permit test? Why not practice before the big day? On the Sulphur Springs Public Library site you can access 10 free permit practice tests (English and Spanish)and access to the online handbook. There is also a Q&A which answers important questions about applying for the driver’s test. Additionally, there are practice tests and handbooks for Motorcycle and CDL too!

The funds raised from the 2014-2015 Lights of Life campaign & gala will be presented to the hospital; $158,000 will be presented that will be used to purchase 3 telemedicine machines, 3 flex coils for the MRI machine and help to purchase a new 1st response vehicle for EMS. Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes
The 2015 spring series will take place March 24, 26, 31, April 2, and April 7, at the Hopkins County Extension Office, 1200-B W. Houston, Sulphur Springs at 1:30 p.m. Topics covered will help individuals have better management of their diabetes. The cost for the entire series is only $25, payable at the first session. Medical Genetics Testing
Learn how a simple cheek swab can determine how well your medications may (or may not) be working for you. Thousands of people have used this test to prevent adverse drug reactions. It is covered by Medicare and most commercial insurances. This seminar will be held on Thursday, March 26, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the ROC (Recreational Outreach Center), 115 Putman Street, Sulphur Springs. H.C. Sheriff Butch Adams’ 5th Annual Meet & Greet and Easter Egg Hunt, March 28th
Don’t miss the 5th Annual Meet and Greet and Easter Egg Hung, sponsored by the Hopkins County Law Enforcement Association and the Hopkins County D.A.R.E. Program. The event will take place March 28th from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Hopkins County Civic Center. The Easter Egg Hunt will start at 10:30am for up to 10 year olds, prize eggs, bounce houses, clowns and entertainment provided. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks provided shortly after the Easter Egg Hunt! Best of all…it’s FREE!!!!
Dentistry from the Heart, Saturday, April 17th!
April 17th, Sulphur Springs area dentists, oral surgeons, dental hygienists, dental assistants, dental office assistants, area businesses and volunteer support are all coming together to bring dental care to those in need, right here in our community. Every year, individual dentists and practices across the country donate their time and resources to host this event! We are very fortunate to have our local dentists do this in Hopkins County. Twogether in Texas Marriage Education Workshop
The next session will be held on Saturday, May 9, from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. at the Hopkins County Extension Office. The workshop is free and engaged couples will receive a certificate to save $60 upon applying for a marriage license. Topics covered will be marriage expectations, communication, conflict resolution, money management, and goals & dreams. Lunch and refreshments will be provided by local businesses. Kids’ Safe Saturday
This popular event will take place on Saturday, April 18, at Buford Park from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Kids’ Safe Saturday will provide exhibits, games, prizes, and food. Exhibits will include sun safety, water safety, stranger danger, and much more! Even though the event is targeted toward families with children ages 12 and under, make plans to bring your entire family!
