A Grand Opening ceremony for the new Sulphur Springs High School Tennis Complex took place Saturday morning. Tennis Team Loses Playoff Chance
The Wildcats’ team tennis squad finished out of the playoffs after losing to Greenville, 15-4 Tuesday at home. Wildcats Tennis Coach Tony Martinez called it a tough evening. He added the team seemed to lack intensity early. The Wildcats ended up 3-4 in district play and 3-8 for the season. Coach Martinez said he wanted to begin private lessons with team members to break down their strokes. He expects vast improvement.
Wildcats Win at Mt. Pleasant, Greenville Next
After defeating Mt. Pleasant, 16-3 Tuesday on the road, the Wildcats’ team tennis squad now faces a must win situation against Greenville next Tuesday at home to qualify for the playoffs. Last year the Wildcats eked out a 10-9 non-district win at Greenville. Wildcats Tennis Coach Tony Martinez is confident his team will be ready for what he expects to be a battle on Tuesday with both teams stepping up.

The Wildcats’ team tennis squad lost their district opener to Longview Tuesday in Sulphur Springs, 19-0. Despite the loss, Wildcats Tennis Coach Tony Martinez said his team competed.
