The Wildcats play the Bulldogs at Gerald Prim Stadium. There will be a JV game at 5:30 p.m. The varsity match will follow at around 7 p.m. Both teams have 1-3 district records. Wildcats Soccer Coach Alexi Upton calls this game crucial for his Wildcats. He wants to go 2-3 in the first half of district play. He said he hopes to get some surprise wins in the second half.
The Lady Cats found the win column against Texas High at The Prim last Friday. That exciting game was decided by penalty kicks. Now the Lady Cats really have their hands full. They travel to Royse City to face the very talented Lady Bulldogs. There will be a JV game at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity match to follow. Their last two games the Lady Cats have shown improvement. They lost a close one to Mount Pleasant before the penalty kick win against Texas High.
Wildcats and Panthers Play Regional Quarterfinal Game at TJC Tuesday Night
For the second straight basketball playoff game, the Wildcats will be facing the Panthers. They defeated the Midlothian Panthers Friday night and they now face the Lufkin Panthers at the Wagstaff Gym at Tyler Junior College Tuesday (February 26) at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are ranked #4 in Class 5A and their season record is 26-8. Lufkin won their Area round game going away against Mesquite Poteet last Friday, 63-35.
Wildcats Basketball Coach Clark Cipoletta said Lufkin plays defense as good as anyone the Wildcats have played this season. He said they are a very physical team and are also athletic. Coach Cipoletta said the tallest of the Panthers is only 6-foot-2 or 6-foot-3. He does like the Wildcats height advantage. He said Lufkin plays bully ball. Coach Cipoletta said the Wildcats will have their hands full Tuesday night.
Here’s a challenge for Wildcats’ fans. Someone with Lufkin told Coach Cipoletta that Lufkin has never been out drawn when it comes to fan support.
KSST Radio will have the Wildcats and Lufkin game with streaming audio from TJC beginning at 7 p.m. The game will also be videotaped for replay later on Channel 18 on Suddenlink Cable.

Rough Day Monday for Lady Cat Golf
Lady Cats Golf Coach Whitney Spigener said her Lady Cats had a rough day Monday (February 25) at a tournament at Hide-A-Way Lake Golf Course in Lindale. She said that was due to a lack of practice time due to the weather.
Coach Spigener said there is just so much you can do indoors where you can’t see where a ball goes after you hit it and hitting off of mats is nothing like hitting off a wet and muddy surface. She did say Hide-A-Way Lake’s course was in pretty good shape Monday considering all the recent rainfall. Coach Spigener said the low round shot Monday was 83.

For the Lady Cats, Mariam Tran shot 92, which was good enough for a sixth place finish. Addison White had 110. Charleigh Potts shot 113. Coach Spigener said the tournament used a triple bogey limit. She said the district golf tournament is still about five weeks away.
Next Tuesday the Lady Cats return to Lindale to play in a tournament at Garden Valley.
