Mitchell Chapel Church of God in Christ is Having its’ Annual Rescue the Perishing food Event
Mitchell Chapel Church of God in Christ at 402 South Jackson in Sulphur Springs will have its’ annual Rescue The Perishing food distribution beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Food baskets for those in need will be available until all of them are gone. Church pastor the Reverend Nelson Gatlin calls the effort a hand up and not a hand out. He says he wants no families to go through the holidays hungry.
ChristmasFest Sunday from 5 p.m.
Central Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs will have their second annual ChristmasFest Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. outside on the south side of church
property.
The free event is designed for the entire family and includes fun and games as well as the reason for the season nativity scene.
There will be a photo booth, kids crafts, face painting, bounce houses, a barrel train, fire pits and all kinds of food.
Central Baptist Church Hosts a Special Music Presentation Sunday Morning
Central Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs will have a special music presentation Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the church. It’s entitled “My Heart Longs For Christmas” and it features a combined adult and children’s choir of 80 voices. Music Pastor Dave Cook says the presentation touches on the fact that not all find the season to be a fun time especially if they have suffered a loss or tragedy. It also stresses the true reason for the season is Jesus Christ.
Harvest Festival a Huge Success
Saturday evening the FUMC held their annual Harvest Festival. If the crowd at dinner was any indication the fund raiser was a huge success. The entire crowd was in great spirits and filled the gymnasium to overflowing for the silent and live auctions. Wade Bartley was the auctioneer for the evening and did a great job.

This was part of the crowd at dinner. The chili and stew was outstanding. The desserts were to die for.

Wade Bartley did his usual great job keeping the crowd engaged and bidding. Tom Sellers right arm was pumping so fast it was a blur.
DivorceCare: Surviving the Holidays

“DivorceCare: Surviving the Holidays” will be performing a seminar on November 19th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at First United Methodist Church, 301 Church Street. The seminar features practical suggestions, guidance and reassurance through video interviews with counselors, experts in divorce related care and people who have experienced the holidays after divorce or separation. Topics to be discussed include “Why the holidays are tough”, “What emotions to expect”, “How to plan and prepare”, “How to handle uncomfortable situations”, and “Using the holidays to help you heal”. Those who attend will receive a free book with over 30 daily readings providing additional insight and ideas on holiday survival.
