Grace Methodist Church Breaks Ground on New Church Home in Sulphur Springs
Sulphur Springs, Texas — September 24, 2025 — Grace Methodist Church marked a significant milestone with a groundbreaking ceremony for its new church home, drawing approximately 150 people to celebrate this next chapter in the church’s history.
The congregation of Grace Methodist Church currently worships at 876 Wildcat Way in Sulphur Springs at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday. The new facility—located on the land where the groundbreaking took place—will provide a permanent spiritual home for the thriving church community.
The event was a beautiful evening of worship, fellowship, and gratitude. Children, youth, and adults participated. Several speakers shared inspiring remarks about what God has done for Grace Methodist. Referring to John 1:16, Pastor Ed Lantz offered a heartfelt message to God and the community, saying, “We are the recipients of grace upon grace upon grace.”
Grace Methodist Church is known for its warm, welcoming congregation—people dedicated to serving God and their neighbors. This new building represents the next step in fulfilling their mission, vision, and their ethos: We believe God planted Grace Methodist to nurture generational and intergenerational relationships, to be formed by God’s Word, to hear the call of God upon our lives and be led by the Holy Spirit to respond as disciples of Jesus Christ, and to experience and live out scriptural holiness – loving God and loving our neighbors.”
Construction of the new church will be led by Paradigm Construction, a respected firm known for its quality craftsmanship and commitment to community projects.

It consists of cooperative banks and associations who provide credit to individuals and busi nesses throughout the United States.
The FCS assist the rural community and organizations of all types and sizes, ranging from small family farms to corpora tions with global operations and is a crucial source of funding for the agribusiness industry which is seen as “high risk” by traditional lenders.

The beginning of nuns and hospitals in Texas dates back to 1866 when the Bishop of Galveston wrote a contact in France for help!
Three women of the new congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Incarnate Word sailed for Galveston and established Charity Infirmary (renamed St. Mary’s Infirmary). From Galveston to San Antonio three sisters established Santa Rosa Hospital in 1869 as Cholera was ravaging that area of Texas. In 1937, 16 sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth order arrived in Tyler to establish Mother Frances Hospital. It opened early to aid the victims of the New London tragedy that occurred in nearby Rusk County.
A merger of the Catholic health care system in Houston, San Antonio and Gaveston created Christus Health on January 28, 1999. In 2016 Christus became a major presence in East Texas by merging with Trinity Mother Frances Hospital and Clinic.
In July 2016 the Hopkins County Hospital District and Christus Health formed an alliance in which Christus became the leasing entity of the hospital building, its employees and the medical services of the hospital.
Christus will grace the Dinner Bell venue multiple times in 2025. They have been a partner with Dinner Bell Ministry since 2017 which fulfills one of its goals to improve the health and welfare of the communities it serves.

Alliance Bank was chartered as Sulphur Springs State Bank on June 13, 1927. The bank turned a profit that year and has done so every year since then, 98 continual years! The bank building at Main and Gilmer was destroyed by fire in 1934, causing the Bank to move to its present location on the North side of the square.
In 1937, the Carnation Milk Plant opened and began buying Grade A Milk. The bank arranged attractive loans to cotton farmers to purchase dairy cows to sell milk to the plant. This started a relationship between the Bank and the Dairy Industry that continued for many years.
Sulphur Springs State Bank began serving Greenville and Hunt County in July 1990. With moving East, West and into the Metroplex, the Bank officially changed its name to Alliance Bank in October, 1996. In addition to banking Alliance Bank owns and operates Galyean Insurance Agency and a brokerage company, Alliance Financial Services. Innovative banking products that meet the varied needs of the communities it serves has kept its customers and added new ones to a bank with local people they can trust.
The Dinner Bell Feeding Ministry began its association with Alliance Bank on March 1, 2017, which continues today with four appearances yearly. For this relationship, the Dinner Bell is extremely thankful.
We plan to continue inside dining every Wednesday with the exception of the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Christ mas and New Years Day.
