Corvette Show Wrap Up
Tony Hughes, vice-President of the Sulphur Springs Corvette Club, said Saturday’s event on and around the plaza was a fantastic show. He added many attendees called it the best show they’d ever been to. Hughes said there were 183 Corvettes entered. They had only 186 spaces. There were 88 cars in last year’s show. Wildcat Marching Band Garners Top Marks
Wildcats Marching Band Director Charles McCauley says the band’s hard work last week really paid off. McCauley says the band had strong performances Friday night and twice Saturday at a Mt. Pleasant contest. The band got the top scores of all 1s. The band earned third place overall and was the top Class 5A band. Senior Citizens Day During Fall Festival
Karon Weatherman, Director of the Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens Center, is in charge of Senior Citizens Day during Fall Festival. Weather Alert Sirens Accidentally Sounding
For the second time this month, a city of Sulphur Springs weather alert siren accidentally went off. The latest incident occurred at around 4 a.m. Monday. In both cases, Police Chief Jay Sanders says there was a lot of lightning in the area. He believes lightning caused a power surge that triggered the alarms. Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens Center Director Karon Weatherman had good news Friday. Some additional financial gifts put A Walk To Remember over its’ $10,000 goal. Passionately Pink For the Cure – April McGuffey Hopkins County EMS
The third annual Passionately Pink For the Cure 5K Walk/Run takes place Saturday at Buford Park. Registration is at 7 a.m. with the walk/run starting at 8 a.m. Funds raised benefit the Susan Komen Foundation’s fight against breast cancer.
