Community Calendar for April 7-11, 2017

A Youth Fundraiser lunch is planned at Wesley UMC in Sulphur Springs on Friday April 7 from 11am til 1pm. The chopped beef sandwich plate and drink is $7.50, with delivery for minimum of three plates offered within the City limits. Contact 903-885-3383 or go to 614 Texas Street.

This Friday, ReachOut Hopkins County will serve at the Miller Grove Methodist Church from noon til 3pm, bringing the services of Hopkins County Community Chest to residents of the community. Next Friday, April 14, they will serve at Como Methodist Church. Services include registering for help with utilities, eye and dental exams and prescription assistance. Emergency food need is also offered.

Yantis First Baptist Church will present  drive-thru Easter scenes on Saturday April 8 starting at 7pm in downtown Yantis on Highway 154, south of Sulphur Springs. Each of the ten scenes will be depicted by actors, some with live animals, to portray the life and death of Jesus. The event is free.

Saturday April 8 is Outreach Day at MLK Church of Christ in Sulphur Springs . There will be a free lunch and free food pantry from 11am til 1pm.

A Pot Luck Supper is planned on Saturday April 8 at 6pm at the Bonanza Community Center. Donations will be accepted for upkeep of building. Bonanza Community Center is located on CR 1162, about 14 miles south of Sulphur Springs, east of Hwy 19 South. Everyone is invited.

The Jerry Guthrie Benefit is planned at the Hagansport Community Center on Saturday April 8 with a Hamburger Supper at 5pm and Auction at 6pm. Proceeds go to Jeff Guthrie to offset expenses while in Baylor Hospital in Dallas. An account has been set up at First National Bank in Mt, Vernon. For details, call Janie Logan at 903-285-4854.

Southside Church of Chrtist, 1208 South Davis Street in Sulphur Springs will hold a Good News series April 9-12. Services begin Sunday at 10:30am and 6pm, and weeknight services begin at 7pm.

The Masonic Family Palm Sunday service will be held at Cherry Grove Baptist Church on Sunday April 9 at 3pm. Associate Pastor Reverend Phillip Harrison will be speaker, the public is invited.

North Hopkins Cemetery Association plans the annual business meeting on Monday April 10 at 7pm in the cemetery chapel. All interested persons are invited.
