Charles Donald Easterling age 90 of the Hagansport Community passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his residence.
Don was born February 8, 1936, to William J. and Faye P. (Hightower) Easterling in Franklin County, Texas.
Don married Beverly Ann Ryan on December 1, 1962. He was a teacher and bus driver for Rivercrest ISD for more than 30 years until his retirement. Don was a faithful volunteer with the Franklin County Genealogical Society, dedicating countless hours to researching his own family history as well as that of many others throughout the Franklin County area.
He was also a devoted member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Don was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a member of Texas First Families. He was an avid arrowhead and archaeology enthusiast who loved all things related to history. He was also a gardening extraordinaire.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Beverly; son, Douglas Easterling; his parents, William and Faye Easterling.
Don is survived by his sons, Steven (Cynthia) Easterling, Michael (Carol) Chamberlain, and daughter-in-law, Teri Elliston.
Grandchildren: Joshua (Courtney) Easterling, Samantha (Matt) James, Brandi (Craig) Combs, Danielle Manetta, Danica Malone, Katie (Bill) Torre.
Great grandchildren, Ashton McGee, Marli (Cole) Tipton, Brylee McGee, Natalee, Brantlee, & Bradlee Manetta, Iree, Odis, & Dovie Malone, Madden, Kazlyn, & Macee James, Stetson and Judd Easterling, Madison & Emilia Torre.
2 great-great grandchildren, Hardin & Everly Tipton. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home and the funeral service will be on May 14, 2026, at 1pm at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Hagansport Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Kason Kelly, Joshua Easterling, Matt James, Russell Conner, Stetson Easterling, Madden James, Judd Easterling and Odis Malone.
