David Lowell Goggans

March 18, 1945 ~ April 14, 2026 (age 81)

David Lowell Goggans was born on March 18, 1945, to James Tommie Goggans and Mary Elizabeth Price Goggans. David was born while his dad was serving in the Navy in Japan. David finally met his dad several months later at the end of WWII. David grew up in the Ridgeway Community, a Methodist by faith, and a member of the Ridgeway Union Church.

David graduated from the Sulphur Springs High School class of 1964. He was with Rockwell International for a brief time and then joined the Air Force in 1965. While in the Air Force, he served one year of duty in Da Nang, Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he began his career as a telephone technician, spending approximately 10 years assigned to various operations in the Eastern States.

David was eventually transferred by the company to Sulphur Springs, Texas and retired from GTE in 2002. After his retirement, David pursued his true passion, his love of nature. He had a special interest in all kinds of plants and trees. He continually collected as many different kinds of plants that he could from traveling all over the countryside.

David had a kind and tender heart, and a very generous nature. He was a man of very few words, but to know him is to love him.

David was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Deckman, and his nephew William Elic Goggans. Survivors include a brother Dudley, and wife Cheryl, sister-in-law Deana Goggans, nieces Kobie Price, and husband Tate, Katie Vestal and husband Tim, nephews Eric Goggans and wife amber, and Ty Goggans and wife Annlee, 8 great nephews, and 3 great nieces.
