A Message of Inspiration From the Author of Living Loved, December 7, 2025
Hey friends, let’s read together in John 1:1-18. About how we can know the love of God because of him sending his son to be flesh and dwell among us.
John 1:1-18 NLT
[1] In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He existed in the beginning with God. [3] God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. [4] The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. [5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. [6] God sent a man, John the Baptist, [7] to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. [8] John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. [9] The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. [10] He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. [11] He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. [12] But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. [13] They are reborn-not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. [14] So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. [15] John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.'” [16] From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. [17] For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. [18] No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.
Oh friends listen. My heart filled with such love and thankfulness when I read this this morning to write this message. Can you just for a moment imagine God coming to this world to dwell amongst us, just as he had originally done with Adam and Eve in the garden before sin entered. He was made flesh and dwells with us. No longer did we have to imagine God as being some far away creature that was disconnected and not with us. He came to this world. He was flesh and blood like his people but he was also spirit like His father. The Invisible God became visible. The spirit became flesh. And we don’t have to fully understand the gospel and all its grace and mystery, we just have to trust it and taste it. And once you experience it, it is beautifully undeniable. It offers hope and comfort. We have a savior that can relate to us in all the earthly fleshy ways we struggle with. By coming and becoming flesh, he became the friend of sinners who know pain, despair, grief, loneliness, rejection, desertion celebration and loss. He came and was tempted just as we are but he didn’t sin and this Christmas season we have another opportunity to reflect on how god stepped into flesh and came to this world to restore the fellowship between man and God. To bridge the great chasm sin had caused between us and our father. To restore the eternity that God knit into us. When he stepped into flesh, he made the way to God and He destroyed the power of sin and grave. It wasn’t for behavior modification but for life transformation. He brought real grace, real truth l, and real LOVE! In him truth tells us we are sinners but grace tells us that while we were yet sinners he died for us. Truth tells us without Jesus we can do nothing but grace says ALL THINGS are possible with God. Truth tells us we will all die and face the judgement of God. But grace tell us there is no shame and condemnation for those who are in Christ.
Friends listen John 1:4-5 says The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. [5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
He came in flesh to give life to all flesh. To bring a light that cannot be extinguished. He came to make eternal the things sin made mortal. To shine the light into our darkness, to give hope to hopeless, to give mercy to the troubled, to love the unloveable.
