FedEx to Close North Texas Facility, Laying Off Hundreds

December 1, 2025 – COPPELL, Texas — FedEx has announced it will “discontinue operation” of one of its major North Texas facilities next year, a move that will eliminate hundreds of jobs and deal another blow to the region’s already shifting logistics and warehouse sector.

The company notified the Texas Workforce Commission that the facility, located in Coppell, will shut down operations beginning in early 2026. While FedEx has not publicly detailed the reason for the closure, industry analysts say the company has been restructuring its national network in an effort to cut costs and consolidate overlapping operations.

Employees at the Coppell site were informed that their positions will be phased out over several months. According to workforce filings, the layoffs will affect a wide range of roles, including package handlers, warehouse staff, and logistics support teams. FedEx says it will offer affected employees opportunities to apply for other roles within the company where possible, though the number of available transfers is expected to be limited.

The closure comes as Texas continues to attract new distribution centers from other major retailers and carriers, even as older or redundant facilities are shuttered. Local officials say the layoffs will strain job-seekers in the region but note that North Texas’ logistics industry remains strong overall, with new openings posted weekly.

FedEx has not yet announced what will happen to the Coppell property once operations cease.
