In 1922 George J. Mecherle, a retired farmer, created a mutual automobile insurance company in Bloomington, Illinois. He founded the company on the basis of fairness, seeking to provide lower auto rates for farmers, who were a lower risk than urban drivers. By 1929 the company expanded beyond car insurance to life insurance. By 1935 home and property was offered. In 1971 Barry Manilow penned the jingle “Like a Good Neighbor, State Farm is there” that defines the company’s brand identify.
Today it is a diversified financial services company offering not only property and casualty insurance but also life and health insurance, annuities, and mutual funds. Being a mutual company it is owned by its policy holders.
From its initial mission to provide fair rates to farmers, State Farm grew into the largest insurer in the U.S. It still emphasizes its original mission to operate fairly and to do right by its customers.
The Bear Littleton Agency began serving its “Good Neighbors” in Northeast Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and Oklahoma in 2011. Insurance professionals are prepared to guide persons to protect what matters most to them and their future through dedicated services. The Julia Wilhite State Farm Agency began serving her “Good Neighbors” in Sulphur Springs and the greater East Texas area in 2019. She offers all types of insurance such as auto, home, life, health, renters, business, motorcycle, personal property, pet and banking products. Anything of value to a person can be protected by a type of insurance coverage.
The mission of this agency is to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams. This agency cultivates strong customer relationships and insurance plans for customers and their families. As part of the Sulphur Springs community this agency serves the East Texas State Farm customers, providing a multitude of insur ance products.
