Health Care Foundation Announces 2026 Gala Project
September 11, 2025 – Sulphur Springs, TX – The Hopkins County Health Care Foundation, an IRS nonprofit organization, is proud to announce its funding project to benefit from the 2026 Gala proceeds.
The board of directors has approved a $250,000 donation from the 2026 Gala proceeds to purchase new medical equipment for the surgical wing expansion at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs.
The Foundation is also assisting CMF-SS with their capital campaign, Spreading Our Wings, to assist with funding for the surgical wing expansion. This expansion will increase the surgical area by 7,000 square feet and double the number of operating rooms.
The surgical area, which has remained as it was built in 1968, was designed for 14 procedures a day. The hospital currently performs up to 54 procedures in a day which is a testament to creativity and efficiency. The operating rooms are small and do not accommodate the size of equipment needed in some surgeries. Sincer there are only four operating rooms, they often must be converted between different types of procedures.
Dr. Martin Fielder, OB/Gyn, Gala leadership committee member, and Director of the Foundation Board, said about the project, “The expansion will allow our surgeons and staff to provide more surgeries daily and to increase the types of surgical procedures offered. This will benefit our local community and their families, not only through reduced travel and convenient follow-up, but also by allowing patients to stay in a familiar place which reduces stress.”
