October 18, 2026 – Our “Fourth Wednesday Lunch & Learn” is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 611 North Davis St., Sulphur Springs, Texas. The Hopkins County Genealogical Society invites individuals interested in genealogical research to attend. Bring your sack lunch, salad, or drive-through meal, and join us – and bring a friend. This event is free and open to the public!
We are especially excited about this month’s speaker and presentation,”Why I Might Be Your Hopkins County Cousin,” presented by Margaret Beard Anderson.
Margaret was born in Lubbock, Texas, and has lived in the state her entire life. Her father was born and raised in Hopkins County. She and her husband, Leslie T. Anderson, have been married for 56 years and have one son and three grandchildren who reside in Georgia. Margaret holds BA and BS degrees in English and Chemistry, as well as a Master’s in Library Science from Texas Woman’s University. She is an active member of several lineage societies, including the DAR and DRT, and is a past president of the Cardwell-Misenheimer Cemetery Association in Caldwell County, Texas.
Currently residing in Garland, Texas, Margaret will be traveling to speak with our group. Her talk will focus on methods for locating research information—
including resources available at the library—and strategies for sharing your findings. She will also discuss her efforts to mark her DRT ancestors’ graves and
share details about that program.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session and group discussion, so please bring your questions!
