Disney Bound? Leave the Stanley Quencher at Home
April 13, 2026 – Disneyland has begun restricting oversized reusable water bottles—including the trendy Stanley cup—on several popular rides, citing safety concerns and rising ride disruptions. The new rules, rolled out in 2026, target large insulated tumblers that have become a common accessory among park visitors.
Officials say the issue is not hydration but hazard. Heavy, 40-ounce metal bottles can become dangerous projectiles on high-speed attractions like the Incredicoaster, where loose items may be flung from ride vehicles.
On other rides, such as Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, dropped objects can interfere with advanced sensor systems, triggering shutdowns that ripple across the park. Incident-related delays have reportedly increased in recent months, prompting stricter enforcement.
The ban does not apply park-wide—guests can still bring reusable bottles into Disneyland—but items must be stored in bags or left behind before boarding certain rides. Smartphones face similar restrictions.
Disney says the policy is aimed at keeping guests safe and reducing downtime as crowds grow. Meanwhile, visitors are encouraged to use smaller bottles or take advantage of free water stations throughout the park.
