Stephen Adren Rhodes

Stephen Adren “Steve” Rhodes, age 70, of Yantis, Texas, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026 in Tyler, Texas.

Steve was born on December 2, 1955 in Greenville, Texas to Burt Rhodes and Dorothy Braziel Rhodes.  He grew up in Greenville and Emory Texas, and is a graduate of Rains High School who also attended East Texas State University. On July 29, 1983, Steve married  his wife, Catheran “Cathy” Rhodes, in Emory.

Steve worked for Rockwell / Flowserve International in Sulphur Springs for over 20 years in the area of Technology, before becoming an owner of Dal-Air Investment Castings in Point prior to his retirement.

He was a man of many talents, finding joy in photography, cooking for those he loved, fishing, woodworking, working with computers and technology, and dancing. Steve also had a deep appreciation for travel and the adventure of seeing new places. Alaska and Hawaii were among his favorite destinations, each trip bringing new experiences and lasting memories. Steve and Cathy also shared a love of cruising and enjoyed many voyages together.

Steve is survived by his wife, Cathy Rhodes of Yantis; his children, Christopher Rhodes of Hughes Springs, Tara Spencer and her husband Dusty of Canton, Mary Ridings and her husband Josh of Lufkin; his grandchildren Kerri Ann, Abby and Anna Rhodes of Hughes Springs, DJ and Jade Spencer of Canton, and Kylie and Wyatt Ridings of Lufkin; his siblings, brothers Mike Rhodes of Keller, Greg Rhodes of Rockwall, and sister Patricia Groves and her husband Mark of Emory; his siblings-in-law, brother-in-law Kenny Scott of Miller Grove, and sister-in-law Susan Crank and her husband Steven of Whitehouse; his nieces and nephews, Brandi and Robert Rhodes, Nadine Hadley, Christopher Lambert, David Groves, Justin Scott, Joe Scott, Kobey Ivey, Andy Moody, Zach Crispin, Callie Crispin, Ashley Bleam, Jennifer Johnson and a host of great friends.  Steve was preceded in death by his parents Burt and Dorothy Rhodes, and sisters-in-law Janice Rhodes and Jackie Rhodes.

A funeral will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 11:00 am at West Oaks funeral home in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Interment will follow at Daugherty Cemetery in Rains County, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at West Oaks funeral home.
