Funeral service for Mauro Gaona, age 68, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Centro Cristiano De Adoracion with Jose R. Pacheco officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Angel Tavera, Joshua Tavera, Jamie Tavera, Yareli Tavera, Kevin Ugalde, Alberto Gaona, Jaciel Gaona, Ernesto Carmona, and Jacob Gaona serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. before the service. Mr. Gaona passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026.
Mauro was born in Misantla, Veracruz, Mexico on January 15, 1958 to Andres Gaona and Gloria Nelly Gil. He married Rocio Carmona Quintero on April 5, 1981 in Misantla, Veracruz MX. Mauro was a construction worker and a very active and helpful member of his church, Centro Cristiano De Adoracion Church in Sulphur Springs.
Mauro was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who worked hard to provide for his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cherished his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Rocio Gaona of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Jaret Gaona and husband Aurelio Tavera of Sulphur Springs; son, Asarias Gaona of Mexico; eight grandchildren, Angel, Joshua, Jamie, and Yareli Tavera, Kevin Ugalde, Alberto, Jaciel, and Jacob Gaona; sister, Gloria Melgarejo; nephew, Luis Alberto Marin; niece, Lendy Plandiura.
Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
