Graveside service with military honors for Billy Jack Horton, age 90, of Ridgeway, Texas, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Ridgeway Cemetery with Abel Martinez, James Horton, Dallas Horton, Rodney Keller, James Lackey, and Rhys Parker serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Horton passed away at his residence on Monday, March 23, 2026.
Billy Jack Horton was born on September 5, 1935, in Hopkins County to the late Ross L. and Bessie (Keller) Horton. He married the late Tommie (Price) Horton in Branom Community on October 1, 1955. Billy Jack proudly served in the U.S. Army before beginning a career as a truck driver with Red Ball Freight. He later worked for Rockwell International, where he remained until his retirement. Never one to sit still, Billy Jack continued working after retiring by running a rural paper route, serving the communities of Cumby, Emblem, Ridgeway, and Brashear. He was a member of the Ridgeway Union Church.
Billy Jack is survived by his daughters, Debbie Horton of Ridgeway, Texas, and Dana Maddox of Ridgeway, Texas; grandchildren, Harleigh Dalton and husband Robert, Rhys Parker and girlfriend Victoria Rico; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Bowden, and Olivia Dalton; special friend and adopted daughter, Saria Ramirez; and loyal four-legged companions, Gracie and Tippy.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife; sister, Delores Haper, and husband Roy; brother, Allen Horton, and wife Jean.
