Kathryn Josephine Sealy Cash

Kathryn Josephine Sealy Cash, age 73, of Hagansport, Texas, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, December 20, 2025, at her beloved home after a short battle with cancer.

Kathryn was born June 8, 1952, in Dallas, Texas, to Henry E. and Norma L. (Stanford) Sealy, the third of five children. She graduated from H. Grady Spruce High School in 1970. She married Trannie F. (Sandy) Cash, Jr. at Rylie First Baptist Church in Dallas on December 16, 1972.

After their daughter, Alison, was born, she later earned her bachelor’s degree from East Texas State University in 1989 with academic distinction. She was also a member of Alpha Chi Honor Society.

Her work life was varied. She was at one time a right-of-way agent for the City of Dallas, a clerical supervisor for the City of Dallas, an insurance broker, and was a dedicated mother. After earning her college degree, she taught at two private Christian schools and retired as a teacher.

Upon retirement, Kathryn and Sandy moved to Franklin County and became involved with First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon. She was involved in their Heart to Heart ladies ministry and Fellowship Sunday School Class. She enjoyed her time being part of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was in the process of organizing a Mt. Vernon chapter.

She was well loved and respected for her kindness and sweetness. We’ll remember and cherish her fantastic smile and great hugs.

Kathryn was an unwavering Christian. She said in her last days that she wanted to go through her illness in a manner that honored God, regardless of the outcome. She did that. She continued to declare that God is good, all the time. She is with her Savior and God, where there is no pain or sorrow.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jerry Sealy.

She was devoted to her husband and family and is survived by her husband of 53 years, Sandy; her daughter, Alison and husband, David Reyes; granddaughters, Lydia Miranda Reyes and Elizabeth Trinidad Reyes; her siblings, Nancy Mosqueda, Beverly Sealy, and Henry Sealy; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church – Mt. Vernon on January 15, 2025, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Pepper Puryear officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to contribute to the Heart to Heart ladies ministry of First Baptist Church – Mt. Vernon.

Services entrusted to Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home and online condolences may be made at www.samharveyfuneralhome.com.
