Commissioner Sid Miller Praises Trump for $12 Billion Farmer Bridge Assistance Program

December 9, 2025 – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is applauding the Trump administration’s newly announced $12 billion bridge assistance program aimed at providing short-term relief to farmers struggling with trade disruptions, rising input costs, and weakened commodity markets.

In a statement issued Monday, Miller said U.S. producers have been hit hard by what he described as a “massive agricultural trade deficit” inherited from the Biden administration, as well as foreign market instability—particularly China’s reduced purchasing of soybeans and other key commodities. The new bridge payments, funded through tariff revenue, are designed to help stabilize farm income while longer-term trade strategies take effect.

“President Trump has always stood with the men and women who feed and clothe this nation,” Miller said. “This bridge program is yet another example of that unwavering support.”

Miller also noted the rollout had been delayed by the recent federal shutdown but credited Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and President Trump for “moving forward to help the people who fuel and feed our nation.”

Calling the package “a vital bridge for producers,” Miller said he believes the program will help farmers weather current market pressures as the administration works to usher in what he described as “a golden age of American agriculture.”
