Flood Watch in Place for Hopkins County and North East Texas

November 24, 2025 – A Flood Watch remains in effect across a wide stretch of North and Northeast Texas today as heavy rainfall continues to move through the region, raising concerns about rising water levels and flash flooding. The National Weather Service issued the alert early Monday, warning that 1 to 3 inches of rain — with isolated totals up to 4 inches — could lead to dangerous runoff through the afternoon.

The watch covers major population centers including Dallas, Collin, Denton, and Tarrant counties, as well as surrounding communities stretching from Eastland and Palo Pinto to Fannin, Grayson, and Hunt counties. In Northeast Texas, Delta, Hopkins, Lamar, and Rains counties are included in the alert. Forecasters say the widespread rain is falling on already saturated ground, increasing the likelihood that rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas will flood quickly.

Urban areas may also experience significant ponding and street flooding, especially where storm drains are overwhelmed by fast-accumulating rainfall. Drivers are urged to use caution, avoid flooded roadways, and expect delays during the morning and midday hours.

Residents in flood-prone locations are encouraged to closely monitor weather updates and be prepared to move to higher ground if conditions worsen. The Weather Service cautions that additional Flood Warnings could be issued with little notice as heavy rainfall bands shift across the region.
