Terry Wayne Shelton

Terry Wayne Shelton, age 70 of Mount Pleasant, Texas, passed away in Longview, Texas, on Friday, October 3, 2025.

He was born on August 22,1955, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Ken Wayne and Cora Belle Fain Shelton.

Terry began working at a very early age. As the oldest of six children, he wanted to help his parents and siblings as much as he could. They were a military family and often experienced changes, moves and other unexpected situations that impacted their household. He loved his family with all his heart and would do anything for them always.

As a young man, Terry worked in the oil field holding multiple responsibilities. Later in life, he dutifully worked for Pilgrim’s as an Amonia Refrigeration Technician. Terry had earned certifications and was very proud to be RETA certified. He  regularly attended RETA training and conferences. Terry also assisted with writing and the publication of many books, policies and safety protocols regarding industrial refrigeration. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, attempting new hobbies and spending time with close friends and loved ones. Terry was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. He was a loyal husband, protective father and the best mentor. He is deeply missed and forever loved by all who were blessed to have known him.

Terry married Joyce Woodle on October 10, 1980, building almost 45 years of memories; his children, Wayne Woodle, and Amanda Shelton (Ryder O’Quinn); grandchildren, Eli Woodle, Justin O’Quinn, Alyssah Cargil; brother, Kenny (Tena) Shelton; sister, Gayla Elrod; a close friend that is like a brother, Mutt Lorance; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Randy Shelton; sisters, Jeannie Kay, and Sandra Morgan; and grandson, Gabriel Woodle.

Visitation will be Monday, October 6, 2025, from 6 to 8 pm at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home and funeral service will be Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home with Rev. John Hines officiating. Burial will follow at Connor Cemetery.
