Martha Jean Elliott, 86, of Corpus Christi, Texas peacefully passed away on October 10th, 2025, in Dallas, TX. She was born May 23rd,1939 in Hopkins County to Mary Leah and Albert Armstrong. Martha was a 1957 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School in Sulphur Springs, Tx. She went on to work on her B.A. degree and Master’s in Elementary Education, at East Texas State Teacher’s College in Commerce, TX. Her first teaching position was at Travis Elementary in Sulphur Springs teaching 1st grade. She married Johnny Young Elliott on May 23, 1964, which also happened to be her 25th Birthday. She put her teaching career on hold in January 1967 as the approach of their first born was coming in July, back then school policy didn’t allow for teachers to be “showing” and be in the classroom teaching.

Martha lived a fulfilling life as a wife, mother, sister, friend, and teacher. Her favorite pastimes were photography, scrapbooking, and researching genealogy which led to her publishing a book “Our Armstrong Story”, in 2016. After raising a family and her three kids were old enough, she went back to teaching once again and retired in May 2003. She was a very active member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Corpus Christi, TX. to include being a member of “The Order of The Daughters of The King”. She was so very proud of her children and grandchildren. Martha will always be remembered for treating everyone with kindness and respect with a camera always in hand. Her presence will be missed by all who loved her.
