Food Resources Around Hopkins County

October 28, 2025 – Here are a few key support options and county-level hotspots in Texas to watch if Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are delayed — based on recent reports:

📍 Counties / Regions at elevated risk

  • The North Texas Food Bank (12-county North Texas service area) estimates about 460,000 people could be impacted by a benefit halt in that region.
  • In the South Texas / Rio Grande Valley region, counties such as Hidalgo County, Cameron County and Willacy County have been flagged for increased demand at food banks.
  • In East Texas, the East Texas Food Bank covers ~26 counties and already reports an uptick in need — it is mobilizing in anticipation of a SNAP pause.

Support & resource options

  • You can dial 2-1-1 anywhere in Texas to find local food pantry and hunger-relief resources.
  • The North Texas Food Bank offers walk-in food assistance and mobile distribution sites across the Dallas/Fort Worth region (e.g., at campuses of Dallas College).
  • The statewide network Feeding Texas maintains a locator for local food banks across all 254 counties — useful if you’re outside major metro areas.
  • If you rely on SNAP, continue to report changes in household income, address or household size. Even if benefit loading is delayed, preserving eligibility is crucial.
