Buc-ee’s Slips in Satisfaction Rankings but Remains a Roadside Favorite

Buc-ee’s, the beloved Texas-based travel stop known for its spotless restrooms, oversized stores, and beaver mascot, has fallen in the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) rankings for convenience stores — but remains one of the nation’s most popular pit stops.

The chain, which consistently earns high marks for customer experience, dropped a few points in overall satisfaction this year. Despite the decline, Buc-ee’s still ranks near the top of the list, outperforming many national competitors such as 7-Eleven and Circle K.

The race for convenience store superiority is tight, but Wawa comes out on top with an industry-leading score of 82 (out of 100), according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI®) Convenience Store Study 2024. QuikTrip finishes second at an ACSI score of 81, followed by Buc-ee’s and Murphy USA at 80 apiece.

Industry analysts say the small dip may reflect growing pains as Buc-ee’s rapidly expands beyond Texas into other states, including Colorado, Missouri, and Florida. With larger crowds and more locations, maintaining the brand’s famously high service standards has become more challenging.

Still, for most travelers, Buc-ee’s remains the gold standard for highway stops. Customers continue to praise the store’s clean facilities, wide selection of snacks, and brisket sandwiches — not to mention its quirky, family-friendly atmosphere.

Even with its slight drop in rankings, Buc-ee’s enduring popularity underscores its loyal fan base and unique place in American travel culture. For many road-trippers, no journey feels complete without a stop at the beaver’s door.
