Keurig Dr Pepper to Acquire JDE Peet’s and Split into Two Global Beverage Powerhouses

In a groundbreaking move, Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) announced it will acquire global coffee giant JDE Peet’s for €15.7 billion in an all-cash deal, forming the world’s largest pure-play coffee company. Following the acquisition, KDP will split into two independent, publicly traded companies: “Beverage Co.”—a North American refreshment beverage leader, and “Global Coffee Co.”—a global coffee champion operating in over 100 countries.

A pure-play company is one that focuses exclusively on a single product, service, or industry. This business model is the opposite of a diversified company or a conglomerate, which operates across multiple sectors.

This strategic transaction will combine KDP’s single-serve coffee dominance with JDE Peet’s iconic global coffee portfolio, creating a powerhouse across all segments and price points. The separation will allow each entity to pursue focused growth strategies, backed by strong brands and robust cash flows.

Tim Cofer will lead Beverage Co., while Sudhanshu Priyadarshi will head Global Coffee Co. The deal is expected to generate $400 million in synergies and deliver EPS growth in the first year.

Global Coffee Co. will boast annual sales of $16 billion, while Beverage Co. will manage $11 billion, with both companies poised to thrive in their respective markets. The acquisition is set to close in the first half of 2026, with the spin-off to follow shortly thereafter, pending approvals.
