SPJST District 3 Rally Raises $1,900 for West Warriors Kids Foundation

HOPKINS COUNTY, July 3, 2025 – SPJST members from Hopkins County collaborated with others in SPJST District Three on June 29, raising $1,900 for the West Warriors Kids Foundation.

For 127 years, SPJST has fostered a wholesome environment for families, dedicated to preserving and promoting the cherished traditions of Czech history, culture, heritage, and family values. Our mission is to provide financial security for our members and their families through a range of insurance certificates, in accordance with the fraternal insurance laws of the State of Texas.

The West Warriors Kids Foundation is a nonprofit in West, Texas, dedicated to financially helping families of hospitalized children in need.

More than 50 members and guests attended the event at Cottonwood, bringing more than 25 dozen cookies to auction. This spirited cookie auction added to the funds raised for the foundation.

District Three Council Member Peggy Dobecka said the Rally was a good change of pace.

“It was good to get reacquainted with old friends and meet new ones,” Dobecka said. “The change from how our regular district meetings were normally held was refreshing, and I think everyone enjoyed the day.”

Children and teens had a blast playing games and creating and launching rockets during the “Never Stop Exploring” craft.

Rockets flew during the rocket launching contest. The rocket that flew farthest was launched by Evan McAdams, who won a dinosaur-themed rocket launcher.

This prize was quickly and generously shared with other kids in attendance for extended play.

Bingo followed with prizes won by many. Other attendees took home a variety of other prizes from SPJST Door Prizes.

While many were thrilled with their winnings, none matched the joy of SPJST District Three Junior Miss Abby McAdams. She was jumping for joy with the lucky draw for the Samsung Galaxy Tablet.

The Rally showed SPJST’s ongoing commitment to service, youth engagement, and making a lasting difference in Texas communities.
