Carter Sims, Jr. Obituary
Carter Sims, Jr. was born to the late Carter Sims, Sr., and Allie Washington Sims on June 23, 1933, in the East Caney Community. He departed to his heavenly home on July 7, 2025, after a short stay at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. Carter went to school in the East Caney Community and later in Sulphur
Springs. He decided he wanted to go into the United States Army where he served two years in Korea,
was honorably discharged, and received a Good Conduct Metal. After coming home and unable to find
work, Carter reenlisted for three more years from Fort Hamilton New York to overseas.
Carter came home to Sulphur Springs and started working as a brick layer. He met Doris Yarbrough (Betty) and that was his better half for over 40 years. Everyone in the community knew him as Paw Paw
or Uncle Tot.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Francine Hall. Three sons, Donald Hall, Rodney Hall (Regina), and Cody Williams (Kemia) all of Sulphur Springs, Texas. He also leaves one bonus daughter,
Mae Jean Yarbrough, three bonus sons, Charles Yarbrough, James Yarbrough, and Robert Hawkins also
all from Sulphur Springs, Texas. 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren.
His bonus 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-
great-grandchildren, two sisters, Arlene Williams, and Peggy White both of Sulphur Springs, Texas. As
well as a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Carter was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Omergene Sims, Vada Alexander, Darlene Horton,
and brothers, Tom Sims, Charlie (Bill) Sims, Arvis Wayne Sims, James Sims, and Bobby Sims.
