Tropical storms Barry and Flossie Will Miss Texas

June 29, 2025 – As of late June 2025, Tropical Storm Barry and Tropical Storm Flossie have both formed off the coasts of Mexico—Barry in the Gulf of Mexico and Flossie in the eastern Pacific.

Barry, located in the Bay of Campeche, is moving northwest at about 6 mph with sustained winds around 45 mph. Forecasts show it tracking toward northeastern Mexico, likely making landfall late Sunday night. While Texas will avoid a direct hit, increased Gulf moisture could bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to South Texas mid-week. Florida is not expected to see any impact from Barry.

Flossie, meanwhile, is situated several hundred miles south of Acapulco. It is projected to strengthen over warm waters and potentially become a hurricane by early next week. However, its path remains offshore, and while it could bring heavy rains to parts of southern and southwestern Mexico.

No direct impacts are expected in Texas or Florida from either storm. Barry’s main effect will be inland Mexico landfall, with only increased moisture and mid‑week showers in South Texas. Flossie will stay offshore well to the south of Mexico’s Pacific coast, with heavy rains locally but no threat to U.S. shores.
