State Fair of Texas Shooter Sentenced

May 24, 2025 – Cameron Turner, the man responsible for opening fire inside the State Fair of Texas food court in 2023, has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to 12 years in prison. The shooting, which injured three individuals, sparked widespread concern over security measures at one of the state’s most iconic public events.

According to police reports, Turner, now 23, claimed he felt threatened by one of the victims and reacted in what he described as “survival mode.” He fired multiple shots, hitting the man he said he feared, as well as two bystanders.
