Solar Power Dominates The Day
June 30, 2025 – Sunny skies in Texas are fueling record-breaking solar energy output. On recent clear days, solar generation has powered a significant portion of the grid’s demand, underpinning the state’s energy resilience during peak summer heat.

Texas now leads the nation in solar capacity growth, second only to California in total solar output. With new projects continuing to come online throughout 2025, the state is on track to double its solar capacity by 2026.
While solar output drops in the evening, grid planners are increasingly pairing it with battery storage and demand response programs to ensure reliability. For now, the sun is proving to be one of Texas’s most reliable summer energy allies.
