Peggy Maurine Cannon, age 80, of the Hagansport Community, entered into Heaven – the place that she longed for, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on November 18, 1944, in Red River County, Texas to C. L. and Thelma (Thommarson) Babb.
On May 29, 1964, Peggy married the love of her life, Charles Freeland Cannon in Ft. Worth, Texas. Together, they built 49 years of marriage rooted in faith, family, and hard work.
Peggy’s gentle spirit and strong faith guided her through every phase of life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm in Northern Franklin County for 23 years. Her career in banking spanned 50 plus years, retiring from Prosperity Bank in Mount Vernon, Texas. Peggy was a woman of deep faith, a faithful member of Lake Chapel House of Prayer, where she found strength in fellowship and a joy in worship.
She is survived by her beloved son, Randy Cannon; grandchildren, Justin Cannon, and Kellee Cannon; her sister, Sandra Burns; brother-in-law, Rob Cannon; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandy and Kathy Cannon; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, including Lori, Skyler and Jaysa, and Sawyer and extended family. Each held a special place in Peggy’s heart.
Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles; her parents, C.L. and Thelma Babb; her sister, Doris Cannon; brother, Glen Babb; sister-in-law, Shirley Babb; brothers-in-law, James, Dean and Doyle Cannon; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Cannon.
Peggy’s legacy of faith, compassion, and steadfast love will continue to live on through those who knew her. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 2pm at Lake Chapel House of Prayer, with visitation one hour prior at 1:00 pm with Pastor Gerald Hood officiating. Pallbearers will be Rusty Barker, Wade Cannon, Kenneth Cannon, Josh Cannon, Skylar Burns, and Gary Jones.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home to help offset the funeral expenses.
