‘John Redcorn’ Actor Gunned Down
June 2, 2025 – Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, 56, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of actor Jonathan Joss on June 1, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Joss, renowned for voicing John Redcorn in King of the Hill and portraying Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation, was shot outside his former residence on Dorsey Drive. The property had been destroyed in a fire earlier that year, which also claimed the lives of his three dogs.
According to law enforcement and witness accounts, Joss returned to the site to collect a victim’s assistance check and encountered the remains of one of his dogs, leading to a distressing outburst. During this episode, he reportedly confronted neighbors, including Ceja. An altercation ensued, during which Ceja allegedly shot Joss multiple times before fleeing the scene. He was apprehended by police a block away and is currently held on a $200,000 bond.
Neighbors indicated that Joss and Ceja had a history of disputes, with reports of prior verbal and physical altercations. Additionally, Joss had been involved in various neighborhood incidents, including frequent disturbances that led to over 40 police responses since January 2024.
Joss’s husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, stated that the shooting was preceded by homophobic slurs from Ceja. However, the San Antonio Police Department has not found evidence to classify the incident as a hate crime but continues to investigate.
