Gregory Lynn Heinz

A Mount Pleasant resident of 71 years, Gregory Lynn Heinz, passed away in hospice care Friday, June 13, at Mount Pleasant Assisted Living.

Greg had a passion for people of all walks of life, golf, animals and especially his beloved 1972 MPHS graduates. In his high school years, he earned state recognition as a member of the MPHS golf team, Region II, Class 3A Golf Champions, third in State. Also, in 1972 he was the Region II, Class 3A Golf Medalist. In 1973, Greg attended Grayson County Junior College in Denison on a golf scholarship.

After he was out of college he owned and operated The Canterbury Shop in Mount Pleasant for several years. He affectionately was dubbed as “the reason men in Mount Pleasant wore pink.”  After he sold his downtown business, he was in the landscaping business.

He was born to Robert (Bob) and Nonie Heinz on Dec. 30, 1953. Both parents preceded him in death.

A service is not planned at this time, but in his last wishes he requested in lieu of flowers that donations may be made to the ‘adoption program’ for dogs in his name: Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter, 300 Enterprise Blvd.; Mount Pleasant, Texas, 75455.

Services entrusted to Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home.
