Services for Janie Burns Palmer who passed away in Rockport, TX February 27, 2024, a day after her 98th birthday, will be held Friday, March 8th at Spence Chapel, First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM and service at 2:00 PM. She was born February 26, 1926 to Babe and Lola Burns in Pickton. She married Morris Palmer in 1944 in Sulphur Springs.
She was loved by so many for her service to God in First Baptist Church, where she served as teacher for Junior Girls, her 20 years employment in Sulphur Springs ISD, and service work in the community. The Palmers traveled almost all 50 states over the years with beloved friends for many years. Her love for God, family, friends, and community were very evident throughout her life.
Janie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Morris Palmer, son Rick Palmer, and grandsons Bryan Palmer, Spencer Reid, and Joshua Palmer.
Survivors include her son/daughter in law, Donny and Patty Palmer of Georgetown, daughter/son in law Marsha and David Reid of Rockport, Ruth Palmer, and Barbara Palmer. Grandchildren/great grandchildren include Jason, Monique, Noah, Will, and Kate Palmer; Clint, Mandy and Avery Palmer; Nathan and Ira Palmer; Cydney, Sammi, Xuma and Rowdy Rana; Kendall, JC, Kyrie, and Eli Campodonico; Ann Palmer; Sarah, Josh, Olivia and Samuel McMullen; and Lauren Wade.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Jason Palmer, Clint Palmer, Nathan Palmer, Cydney Palmer, Kendall Campodonico, and JC Campodonico. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery at the conclusion of the service. Donations to First Baptist Church Food Pantry are appreciated.
