High Speed Chase Ends in Downtown Commerce

March 4, 2024 – A Hopkins County Sheriff’s Deputy clocked a Ford Fiesta at 100mph in a 60mph zone heading west on Highway 11 near County Road 4724 just before 11pm Sunday night. The deputy activated his lights and siren taking off after the silver 2016 Ford but the vehicle would not slow down. As the driver, later identified as Brandon Wayne Clemins, entered into Commerce he turned onto Highway 24 and then onto the city streets. The chase came to an end down an alleyway of Caddo St as the 26 year-old driver came to a stop and was assisted out of his vehicle by law enforcement using a felony takedown protocol. Brandon Wayne Clemins was placed under arrest, transported back to the Hopkins County Jail charged with Evading Arrest w/ a Motor Vehicle. Bond has not yet been set on the third-degree felony charge.
